My mum had a drawer filled with bold and chunky beaded necklaces on top of her dresser. I would watch her closely as she put on her jewels, feeling the various textures of the colourful beads beneath my fingertips, wishing they were mine.
She wore fushia and red heels, kept peacock feathers in her bedroom, and always kept the kitchen vase overflowing with extravagant flowers that she had picked from her garden. Naturally, a passion for art and design bloomed inside me, filling my mind with limitless opportunities and fueling my insatiable curiosity.
I value curiosity for I believe it to be a vital part of our existence. I have always questioned the world around me and strived for the unknown. Through my jewellery making, I get to explore cultures beyond my own and connect with the hidden corners of the world.
Storyteller is an exploration of ideas and concepts. It tells my story and the stories of the people behind the beads, fabrics, and threads that I use in my work.
