STORIES BEHIND THE BEADS

There are a lot of components in this necklace so we'll tell the story of just a few.

Pyrite, the grey faceted metal beads, is also called fool's gold because its colour is deceptively similar to that of a gold nugget. The name comes from the Greek word pyr, “fire,” because pyrite emits sparks when struck by metal.

Now the chain, you love it or hate it, like Marmite. It's made with raw brass which means it is purposefully left un-sealed to allow for natural oxidation to take place. As the metal ages, it darkens and develops that distinct rich patina and beautiful character.

The shiny glass beads are Czech Glass Beads, an ancient type of bead made in the Czech Republic, considered one of the world’s leading glass bead manufacturers. Artisans create these beads by taking heated glass and pressing it into a mold. Then the beads are fire-polished to create their distinctive smooth feel and beautiful glow.

MATERIALS

Brass, semi-precious gemstones, glass and pyrite.

JEWELLERY CARE

Brass is a natural material and will develop a patina over time giving your necklace a beautiful character. If you prefer your brass shiny, it can be restored with a brass metal polish.

All other components can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth when needed.

Your necklace can last a lifetime if stored in a pouch or box and kept away from water, perfumes and harsh cleaning products.
